Frank was born in Pipe Cum Lyde in 1897 to John and Sarah Cooper. In the 1911 Census John was listed as a farm labourer aged 56.
Frank had 3 brothers, John, Thomas and Henry. He also had 4 sisters Annie, Sarah, Jane and Elizabeth. Frank was the youngest.
Frank enlisted at Much Dewchurch, Herefordshire and served with the Gloucestershire 14 Battalion. His service number was 32032. He must have served with the Herefordshire Regiment too- Service number 5327.
Frank was killed 4 February 1918 and is buried at Cement House Cemetery.
Frank was 21 years of age when he died.
Enlisted at Much Dewchurch in the Hereford Regiment Soldier No. 5327 and later the 14th (Service) Battalion (West of England) Formed at Bristol on 22 April 1915, by the Citizens Recruiting Committee, as a Bantam Battalion. His medal certificate has him in the 8th Gloucesters.
June 1915 : came under command of 105th Brigade in 35th Division at Masham. Adopted by War Office 23 June 1915. Moved to Salisbury Plain August 1915. Landed in Le Havre on 30 January 1916.
11 February 1918 : disbanded in France, 12 officers and 250 men going to 13th Bn. 13th (Service) Battalion (Forest of Dean)(Pioneers) Formed at Malvern in December 1914 by Lieut-Col. H. Webb, MP. Adopted by War Office 12 July 1915. August 1915 : attached as Divisional Pioneers to 39th Division. Moved to Aldershot in September 1915 and landed in France 3 March 1916.
